Personally, I hope that there will always be individuals who can give their time and energy to preserving culture until circumstances allow the government to take over.
On the one hand, it seems obvious that all cultures are worth protecting, since every country has something unique to contribute to the world.
On the other hand,the physical well-being o fa country may have to be the main focus of its government. A country whose population lacks jobs, shelter, medical care or education may not be able to afford to preserve or promote their cultural heritage because the population has more urgent needs.
For instance, there are a number of unique languages in central Europe which are spoken by few people. These languages are important to their regions, and they should be protected and promoted, along with the art, music and traditions of these areas.
Furthermore, countries which are engaged in conflicts may not be able to focus on cultural matters.
However, is it really a good idea when they could use the money to improve the lives of their citizens?
In conclusion, the current circumstances in a country may decide if they can protect their cultural heritage.
